The Africa2020 Season is an allegory of the cultural, spiritual, commercial, technological and political networks that have linked the nations of the African continent throughout history. Bringing the whole of Africa together in one Season is a conscious choice. It is about creating a platform so that societies, which sometimes lost sight of each other, can once again enter into dialogue.

In this context, the Unesco Chair in World Food Systems is organising, in collaboration with Mak’It / Montpellier University of Excellence, a distance learning workshop on the theme "Feeding the imagination".

We invite our speakers to share with you a personal story about an object of their choice (food, dish, container, work of art, etc.) that they feel is emblematic of the African relationship to food.

With :
chefs Anto Cocagne (Gabon/Paris) and Pierre Thiam (Senegal/New York City)
the socio-anthropologists of food Hayat Zirari, (Hassan II University of Casablanca, Morocco) and Estelle Kouokam (Catholic University of Yaoundé, Cameroon)
Artist Emeka Ogboh (Nigeria/Berlin) who makes connections with places through the sensations of hearing and taste. Through his audio installations and gastronomic works, he explores how sound and food capture existential relationships and frame our understanding of the world.
